redsn0w 0.9.9b7 Released By Dev-TeaM To Make Jailbreck Faster

After some feedback on reddit, we’ve decided to make the initial jailbreak as quick as possible by no longer “stashing” the applications by default during the redsn0w run. This reduces the time to actually perform the jailbreak from 210 seconds to 80 seconds (60 percent!). However, you make up for much of that the first time you launch Cydia, which will then want to stash the applications. You can choose whether you want redsn0w or Cydia to stash in the Preferences pane.

Siri Successfully Ported To iPhone 4 [Video]

Developer Steven Troughton-Smith has made some progress on porting Siri voice assistant to the iPhone 4, reports 9to5Mac.

Siri on the iPhone 4 can recognize spoken commands in both the standard Siri view and the keyboard Dictation view. The only issue at this point is that Apple is not authenticating (obviously) commands to its servers from iPhone 4 hardware. The Siri port to the iPhone 4, at this point, also has the ability to speak back to the user. You may notice Siri and the iPhone 4 acting very sluggish in the above video. The issue here is not Siri, but is that a special GPU driver for iPhone 4 is needed; and it is obviously not included in the iPhone 4S binary cache – where the Siri files are located.

How to Disassemble the iPhone 4S [Video]

iFixYouri has posted a video showing you the steps to disassemble the iPhone 4S.

A lot of the features are very similar, but not the same to the CDMA and GSM, including the screen, dock connector, back glass, and the vibrator(same as the CDMA), making replacement and repair services readily available.

pre-QUALifier

We’ve updated ultrasn0w to be compatible with iOS5, which came out a few days ago. While ultrasn0w 1.2.4 doesn’t add support for any new basebands, the update is required for any ultrasn0w unlockers trying out iOS5 (it remains backwards compatible though, so you should be able to use it no matter what firmware you have).

The supported basebands for the iPhone 3G and 3GS are 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04, and 06.15.00. The baseband supported for the iPhone4 is 01.59.00.

Redsn0w 0.9.9b5 Will Preserve Baseband

MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev-team has just announced some important news on his Twitter account. MuscleNerd has post a screen-shot of the upcoming version of Redns0w 0.9.9 b5 which will have major update, the Dev-team will merge PwnageTool into Redsn0w.

What that means, you will be able to cook your custom firmware from Redsn0w directly which was the major advantage of PwnageTool and Sn0wbreeze. Both PwnageTool (for Mac) and Sn0wbreeze (for Windows) are being used mainly by who rely on unlock for their iPhones as they can preserve the unlockable baseband so they can unlock their iPhones with ultrasn0w. Now Redsn0w new feature will kill the both PwnageTool and Sn0wbreeze for ever, as Redsn0w is always available for both Mac and Windows. The only case that the Dev-team will upgrade PwnageTool is only in case of untethered jailbreaks.

Thanks Dev-team about your continuous hard work and improvements. This is really awesome.

Unlock iOS 5 iPhone 4, 3GS Ultrasn0w Soon

Unlock iPhone 4, 3GS on iOS 4 with ultrasn0w is coming soon. MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev-team has announced on his Twitter account that any user who is running iOS 4.x.x or lower where ultrasn0w is work will be able to unlock his iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS on iOS 5 after the Dev-team makes some updates on ultrasn0w.

This is not a new unlock for higher basbands. Ultrasn0w will be updated to work with iOS 5 to unlock the already unlockable basebands.

Supported basebands:
01.59.00 / 04.26.08 / 05.11.07 / 05.12.01 / 05.13.04 / 06.15.00

Unsupported basebands :
02.10.04 / 03.10.01 / 04.10.01 / 05.14.02 / 05.15.04 / 05.16.02

So the dev-team will release iOS 5 unlock with ultrasn0w soon according to MuscleNerd,

iTunes 10.5 Releases by Apple

Apple today released iTunes 10.5, a new version of its media manager that adds a number of improvements and official support for devices running iOS 5. The next major version of Apple’s iOS is coming out this week on Wednesday, October 12th, and iTunes 10.5 will be required to sync devices that will be upgraded to the new software. iTunes 10.5 also enables iTunes Match, a new music service by Apple based on iCloud; iTunes Match, however, will publicly launch in the United States only at the end of OctoberiTunes 10.5 was originally seeded to developers in June, when Apple also released the first beta version of iOS 5. Since then, we noted iTunes 10.5 included some minor graphical updates to the interface; this summer Apple also rewrote iTunes’ codebase to take advantage of Lion with full 64-bit support, and this new version of the app includes the changes we originally reported here. iTunes 10.5 also adds support for iCloud, Apple’s new cloud service that allows users to store digital purchases in the cloud, and re-download them at any time on any device. This functionality was previously activated as “beta” and called iTunes in the Cloud; as Apple notes, “iTunes in the Cloud is now part of iCloud”, but that doesn’t change the way songs have been able to be pushed across devices since last June. iCloud will also be officially launched on October 12th alongside iOS 5.

Redsn0w 0.9.9b4 update

Update #12: For those of you who experiment with your own custom ramdisks using the -r command-line option, version 0.9.9b4 adds auto-detection support for iOS5. This is needed because iOS4 and iOS5 treat the root partition differently (it’s encrypted in iOS5). redsn0w will now upload the correct iOS5 kernel by itself, but it’s up to your own launchd to determine if it needs to mount using the old or new partition scheme.
redsn0w now also accepts both native and img3-encapsulated versions of files you provide via the -r, -k, and -d command-line options (do redsn0w -h to show all the available options).
